Co-drivers

More than thirty co-drivers have been sharing Ari Vatanen’s world wide rally adventures – among them his dear wife Rita. "I'd rather have tens of co-drivers and only one wife than the other way around," he says.

Here are Ari’s reflections on some of them: those who have had an exceptionally big impact on his career, for one reason or another. (Rita’s impact has not been considered in this instance!)

Of the co-drivers chosen John Thomas only ever occupied the seat next to Ari once, whereas Bruno Berglund made it over forty times. It is therefore obvious that Ari’s motives for singling them out are different. This choice is not meant to rank the co-drivers on their professional merits.
